JAMES E. BRISTOL III practices primarily in the area of family law, which includes collaborative divorce practice, divorce, alimony, custody and timesharing, child support, adoptions (including same sex adoptions), kinship guardianship, parentage matters, and domestic violence cases. In addition, James serves as a guardian ad litem representing the interests of children, and for this practice maintains a clinical LISW license. James is secretary of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico and is a member of the New Mexico and Santa Fe Collaborative Practice Groups. He is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the Adoption and Foster Care Alliance of New Mexico. Prior to joining Sutin, Thayer & Browne, James clerked for the Honorable Carol J. Vigil, First Judicial District, Santa Fe, and the Honorable Paul J. Kelly, Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals, 10th Circuit, Santa Fe.
