Oil, Gas and Energy
Our oil, gas and energy group includes both transactional attorneys and litigators who have experience in many facets of the oil and gas industry. We serve as general counsel to oil and gas producers and mineral rights owners' groups, advising in entity formation, corporate governance, financing and lending, mergers and acquisitions, and employment law issues. We also review and consult with clients regarding oil and gas leases, division orders, operating agreements, and negotiations with property owners, and appearances before the New Mexico Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Our water and environmental law practitioners collaborate with our oil and gas group to address underground storage tank, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other critical environmental issues.
Our law firm also works with many landowners, property managers, royalty owners, trustees overseeing mineral rights, and charitable organizations in collecting underpaid royalties and severances taxes. Our clients in this area range from individuals, to groups of thousands of royalty owners in class action litigation, to the State of New Mexico and other governmental entities.
In the field of alternative energy, our Firm represents the New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority and a variety of clients in the solar and wind power industry. Our work in this area includes public financing of wind and solar projects, providing general corporate representation, navigating alternative energy tax credits and programs, and air quality permitting. Our representation of both public and private clients in this developing field has allowed us to develop expertise in the constantly evolving areas of law and regulation that are important to our alternative energy sector clients.
