Insurance Defense

Our Firm's Insurance Defense Group assists clients throughout the insurance industry. Our clients include individuals, small and large businesses, and governmental entities. We serve primary insurers, excess insurers and reinsurers, and clients ranging from large, admitted carriers and surplus line insurance carriers to insurance carriers who prefer to operate on a non-admitted basis.
We provide a wide and comprehensive range of services intended to avoid and resolve disputes, including preventive counseling, policy analysis and interpretation, pre-litigation investigation, and prosecution and defense of claims at the trial and appellate levels. As a highly regulated industry, we assist our clients with often complex issues of taxation and licensing. Lawyers in our Insurance Defense Group work closely with lawyers in our other practice groups including Corporate and Business, Commercial Litigation and Employment.
The lawyers in our Insurance Defense Group have extensive trial experience, and practice in State, Federal and Tribal courts throughout New Mexico and the United States. When a dispute or litigation arises over insurance policy coverage, we help insurance companies defend their interests and manage their policies effectively. When necessary, we request declaratory judgments and handle subrogation claims. When possible, we are prepared to pursue remedies outside of court, including settlement negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
